In-field or Field-edge practices#

It is helpful to divide conservation practices up and think about them as either taking place in your field where you plant your crops, or at the edge of the field. At the edge, where your productivity is probably a little lower, is also your last chance to prevent soil eroded in the field from running into a swale, ditch, or waterway. Practices in the field however take up valuable cropland. So, a little bit of conservation in the middle of the field can really help prevent erosion and run off to the edges of the field. But interventions at the edge of your field can really help seal the deal and make your farm sustainable and prevent impacts to your neighbors.
