Managing your grazing and livestock#
Done well, livestock production can enrich the landscape, grow healthier soils, and provide healthy productive herds. Done poorly livestock production can degrade the soil and left unchecked, can render land unfarmable for many other purposes. There are two things to consider: grazing and manure. The right amount of grazing keeps your pastors productive and healthy ecosystems. The right amount of manure and riches the soil and promotes healthy regrowth. Too much of either will send your pasture down a spiral towards bare soil and gulley erosion.
You basically have two options. You can either choose to control your livestock and carefully manage their grazing and pooping with a managed/prescribed grazing program or you can concentrate your livestock in a small place and manage their manure yourself.
